# 305 Six Nations Warrior

Native Americans refer to the earth as Mother Earth. The earth is a feminine symbol, and Native people consider themselves to be caretakers of the Earth. We must care for her and respect her . . . love her. Her beauty and bounty is beyond comprehension. Her medicine and life blood (water) is essential to all who inhabit her. We are born of the earth. Our bodies are made up of elements found in the earth and are returned to the earth when we die. We are here upon Mother Earth for a very short time. We must never take our life for granted, or the bounty that the earth as bestowed upon us. Our elders tell us to make good of the time that we have while traveling upon the back of our Mother Earth.
